Licorice is one of the oldest plants in Italian medicine and cuisine — known since the time of Hippocrates for its properties. Enrico Toro has been processing it since 1817 in his distillery in Tocco da Casauria, in the province of Pescara, with the same philosophy he has always had: to take a quality raw material and not ruin it.

The result is a liquor with a dark and deep color, an intense and enveloping aroma, and the strong flavor of real licorice — not the sweetish and artificial kind, but the real one, with its slightly bitter undertone that makes it perfect as an after-dinner drink. The sediments that form at the bottom are completely natural: it's a sign that there's real licorice inside, not a lab-made aroma. Shake before use and serve chilled.

Why choose it

  • Licorice paste and powder 11.5% — real raw material, not synthetic flavors
  • Artisanal production since 1817, Distilleria Enrico Toro, Tocco da Casauria
  • Natural sediments: a sign of quality, not a defect
  • Excellent digestive after meals, to be served chilled
  • Selected by the Belfiore shop in Vasto for its authenticity
  • 🇮🇹 Produced and bottled in Abruzzo — Tocco da Casauria (PE)

How to serve it

  • cold or with ice as a digestif after dinner
  • paired with aged and blue cheeses
  • as a base for cocktails with tonic or Prosecco
  • a small amount over cream or dark chocolate ice cream

A tip from Fratelli Belfiore

< Chilled, in a shot glass, after pecorino and ventricina. Or over cream ice cream, if you want to end dinner in a way no one forgets. Real licorice never disappoints. >
